Transportation Situation

A while back I posted about how I hope to begin supply preaching. Well, I have the resumes and cover letters ready, along with a list of churches in New Jersey and some in New York that are counted among the independent Christian Churches/Churches of Christ. The trouble is that as I look at the miles and hours of travel between where I live and where most of these churches meet, I realize that my car is nowhere near reliable enough to meet the challenge.

We have two vehicles. My wife's car is a 2003 Chevy Cavalier. My car is a 1994 Nissan Altima. The Chevy is fine, but since my wife will probably want to go to the Brazilian church instead of trail around with me to supply preach for American congregations, I would have to use my Nissan.

My car is falling apart around me. It was a lemon to begin with, and only gets worse with time. Although in March of this year I finally got the right size rims and tires on it (the man who sold the car to me had put over-sized rims on it and I didn't notice), the damage was already done. On the rear passenger side, the side that got hit in April 2006, there's damage inside that makes the wheel loose. It has a slight wobble while driving that wears both that tire and the other rear tire. One is now completely bald, and the other one is getting that way.

Repairing the car would probably cost more than it is worth, but we can't afford to buy another car or even finance one at this point.

Options are few, and I need transportation not only for preaching, but also for regular weekday employment.

Suggestions and prayers would be much appreciated.
