Schantz on Excellence

Here's an article on excellence by Daniel Schantz, writer and professor at Central Christian College of the Bible in Moberly, Missouri. Give it a read! It makes me think about some differences between mega churches and missional churches. For example, how often does an "average" person get a chance to lead worship, sing a "special" or head up an important project? On the other hand, it could be argued that many good Christian bands got their start in large churches. This isn't exactly what Mr. Schantz is discussing, but it makes me think.

Here's a choice quote from the article: "I grew up in the 1950s, so poor that we went to Kentucky Fried Chicken just to lick other people’s fingers."

His threefold suggested alternative is really nice: Efficiency, patience and inclusion.

Good stuff.
