For a few months now I have been training on Python and have struggled with the decision to switch focus to Ruby. One of the excuses I used, to myself at least, was that Ruby wouldn't be a good primary language for a system administrator. The only reason I can find for thinking this way is that there are abundant resources (including an excellent book) readily available about using Python in system administration, but not so much about utilizing Ruby in this context. After some extensive web searching I've found the following resources to help myself and others get a start on learning about Ruby in system administration.
Practical Ruby for System Administration
I've tracked down a copy of this book and intend to provide a review, once I have a better grasp of both Ruby and system administration. For now, have a look at this review.
