William Kamkwamba from the African nation of Malawi found a book in a library that showed a windmill. The book was in English, a language with which he wasn't entirely proficient. William was 14 at the time. He built a windmill. It gave light to his home. This man's a natural-born engineer.
The TED talk below is from 2007, when William was 19. He was a little difficult to understand, but in the second video from this year (2009) his English is far better. Watch both and be impressed. William's book about building his windmill is "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind: Creating Currents of Electricity and Hope."
